Picturesque - beach huts on Mersea Island
A NEW beach hut could be built in a picturesque island location under new plans.
It will replace a hut which was removed from the sit in The Spinney, Victoria Esplanade, West Mersea, after it became dilapidated.
The grassed area has remained vacant since the removal of the former beach hut, entitled Hut 43.
The row of beach huts have proven popular with visitors to the island, attracting stars such as Denise van Outen to come and spend a day in one.
Colchester Council’s planning committee has the final say on the plans.
