RESIDENTS have passionately voiced their opinions after being asked what aspects of Colchester they believe need urgently fixing.
Earlier this week we encouraged Gazette readers to shine a light on the certain areas of the town they are most unhappy with.
After posing the question online, the paper was inundated with hundreds of responses, with numerous issues being raised.
Many called for the volume of potholes in Colchester to be immediately addressed, while others also raise concerns over empty shops in the town centre.
Lindsey Real said: “There are so few shops and not everyone is able to or wants to go out of the town centre to be able to get necessities.
“It's such a shame to see our once busy and vibrant town like it is now.”
Complaints were also made about the number of houses being built, Ipswich Road roundabout, the quality of pavements and bus services, and problems with parking.
The suggested lack of infrastructure in the area also touched a nerve with readers, with many calling for more surgeries and a second hospital to be built.
Barbara Cowen added: “Build another hospital [because] ours cannot cope, and all infrastructure must be improved to cope with building. Our lovely old town - so sad.”
