AN education minister showed off his Disney knowledge as he made a light-hearted reference to the children’s film Frozen during a speech in the House of Commons.
As he closed a debate on children’s recovery and the cost of childcare, Will Quince wished the daughter of Conservative MP Mark Logan a happy birthday as he compared her to Frozen protagonist Princess Elsa of Arendelle.
During his contributions earlier, Mr Logan had told the Commons about his daughter’s fourth birthday while she watched on from the public gallery wearing a tiara and a princess dress.
Colchester MP Mr Quince joked: “I can’t let the moment go without also saying happy birthday to my honourable friend’s daughter.
“I thought up in the gallery was Princess Elsa of Arendelle, but it turns out it was actually my honourable friend’s birthday and I’ll let it go.”
The Frozen references did not end there, though, with Labour MP Stella Creasy (a former student at Colchester County High School for Girls) later intervening during Mr Quince’s speech, saying: “Obviously Frozen too has many lessons that we all need to follow.
“But one of the things about it is not just to let it go but to be truthful to yourself.”
