DRIVERS may need to prepare for delays with roadworks scheduled to shut a Colchester Road.
Abbots Road in Colchester is set to close on July 4.
The road will shut from its junction with Mersea Road to near its junction with Old Heath Road.
The closure is scheduled to last eight days and is required while patching work is undertaken by Essex County Council.
In an intention notice, Essex Highways has said: “The closure is required for the safety of the public and workforce while carriageway, footway patching including bollards and drainage works are undertaken by Essex County Council.
“An alternative route is available via Old Heath Road, Roberts Road, Mersea Road and vice versa.
“Access for emergency service vehicles and pedestrians will be maintained at all times during the closure.”
