A COLCHESTER care home has responded to a Care Quality Commission (CQC) inspection report which deemed it as requiring improvement.
CQC inspectors found Colonia Court Care Home, which is part of Bupa Care Homes, fell short of expected standards after they undertook an surprise inspection in April.
Although relatives of residents spoke highly of the home, inspectors commented in the official report that record keeping was below par and effective leadership was lacking.
But the managing director of the care home, Duncan Smith, said a plan of action is in place as the home looks to improve upon the recent findings.
He said “We are committed to providing quality care so that our residents feel safe, well cared for and enjoy their time at Colonia Court.
“We have a detailed action plan in place following the CQC’s inspection including extensive staff training on keeping care records, and a large-scale refurbishment of our residents’ living spaces.
“We were pleased that the CQC recognised our positive culture and open management style,” he added.
“This reflects the positive feedback from relatives on our welcoming environment and good communication.
“We are committed to continuously improving to make life enjoyable and safe for residents in the home.”
