A MAN is due to appear in a crown court today accused of murdering his wife.

Ertan Ersoy, of Wickham Road, Colchester, will face a judge at Chelmsford Crown Court at 10am.

The 50-year-old faces a single charge of murder after the death of senior university lecturer Antonella Castelvedere last Wednesday.

Police officers were called to the scene at 11.15 am but, despite their efforts alongside paramedics, Mrs Castelvedere, 52, was pronounced dead at 12.22pm.

Ersoy was arrested on suspicion of murder and later charged with the offence. He remained silent throughout police interview. He did not enter a plea to the charge.
