ESSENTIAL items for those in need are in short supply at Colchester Foodbank, with the organisation issuing a plea on social media asking for donations.
The foodbank, which is the biggest of its kind in Essex and the third biggest in the east of England, has estimated that 20,000 people will be relying on the organisation throughout 2022.
Based in Tollgate Retail Park, Colchester Foodbank provides vital everyday foods and toiletries via a voucher system to encourage self-reliance.
But a social media post, published on Facebook on Wednesday, said the foodbank had run out of shampoo, washing powder, washing up liquid, toothbrushes, and can openers.
It also said it was running extremely low on basic foods, such as pasta and tomato sauce, tea bags, and squash.
Toiletries are also in short supply, with the foodbank welcoming donations of razors, toilet roll, and nappies.
Donations can be made in person at Colchester Foodbank’s main base at Tollgate Retail Park, Stanway, CO3 8RG.
