A TEENAGE girl has been left with a laceration after being hit on the head by a glass bottle.

The incident took place at around 8pm on Friday July 8, off Colchester Road and near to where a music festival was taking place, but outside its parameters. 

Police had initially said it happened at a music festival which was not the case.

Suffolk Police says its officers are now appealing for witnesses of the assault to come forward and help their investigation.

A spokesman said: “A 16-year-old girl was sitting with a group of friends when she was struck on the head by a glass cider bottle, which caused a small laceration and required medical treatment.

“Officers would like to hear from anyone who may have witnessed this incident or has any mobile phone footage of it.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Sudbury Neighbourhood Response Team, quoting reference: 43129/22.”
