A woman has died after reports of a pedestrian being hit by a van.

Essex Police have confirmed a female pedestrian has been killed following the incident today in Wivenhoe. 

A spokesman said: “We were called to Valley Road in Wivenhoe shortly before 1pm today following reports of a collision involving a pedestrian and a van.

“The female pedestrian was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

“Officers remain at the scene and a closure is in place.”

It comes after witnesses reported seeing multiple emergency services in the area, including police, fire, and ambulances.

Essex Air Ambulance also confirmed they were dispatched to the scene.

The road remains closed and is expected to remain closed into this evening.
