FIRE crews have continued to be busy as more fire incidents hit the district.
The Halsted Fire Station attended two incidents on Thursday.
First, teams attended a ten-appliance field fire in Suffolk which spread for more than two miles.
Following this, at 6.35pm, three crews attended a combine fire in a field in Colne Engaine.
Firefighters arrived at the scene to a combine harvester that had caught fire when it was in use.
Two crews from Halstead and one from Colchester attended and got the fire under control after it had also spread to a small area of field.
Crews also confirmed the driver of the combine made it out unharmed.
The fires come after a busy week of field fires in mid Essex due to the ongoing warmer weather.
Firefighters from across the district were pushed to their limits as temperatures soared.
One of the biggest fires they had to tackle was at an abandoned recycling centre at Convent Lane, Bocking.
Around 600 tonnes of disused clothing caught fire and smoke could be seen from as far as Halstead, Marks Tey, and Witham.
Crews also responded to countess other fires in Bocking, Stisted, Boreham and Great Sampford.
