ECO-ACTIVISTS were on song as they marched through the streets of Colchester.
Extinction Rebellion Colchester campaigners paraded through the town centre streets today as part of their ongoing fight against climate change.
Protestors began at the Castle Park entrance on the High Street, before going round and through the town centre making their voices heard.
Lead by drummers, the march featured people’s plaques, t-shirts, and homemade insects like bees.
Eco-warriors both young and old took part in the action, fighting a battle close to their hearts.
The protest, which have been dubbed a Summer Uprising, is taking place in conjunction with the environmental movement’s so-called Carnival For Life.
The idea behind the demonstration is to celebrate life while also highlighting the extent to which the planet’s climate and ecology is under threat.
The Carnival For Life for the East of England has been going on from July 16 and will finish tomorrow in Ipswich.
A spokesman said: “The carnival is big, bold, colourful and beautiful, a place where we can welcome people in.
“We want to celebrate all that we hold dear in life, the art, the music, the fun.
“We also need to give the message of the suffering happening already around the world, giving a platform for their voices.
“The East of England Carnival For Life is a celebration of life on earth, whilst recognising the threat we’re under from the climate and ecological emergency.”
