A TELEVISION star from Essex is set to front a new programme all about how discount supermarkets have mastered the art of the ultimate impulse buys.
Secrets of the Middle Aisle, which is produced by Firecrest Films and consists of two hour-long episodes, will air on Channel 4 and All4 later this year.
The show will delve into the retail phenomenon of Lidl and Aldi’s middle aisles, where shoppers can pick up anything from gadgets and garden furniture to pyjamas.
The face of the series is Basildon’s very own Denise Van Outen, who also owns has a beach hut on Mersea Island, a place she frequently visits with her family.

Denise dig into the secrets of the aisles’ special buys and seasonal offers which entice shoppers through the doors of discount supermarkets each week.
She said: “I’m a bit of a bargain spotter myself, so I’m really looking forward to getting to the bottom of how these supermarket offers work and whether they’re all they seem.”
Nicole Kleeman, from Firecrest Films, is thrilled to have the Essex celebrity onboard.
She added: “We’re delighted to be working with Denise Van Outen to explore how this modern retail icon is shaking up the British High Street."
