A MOTORIST who forced a lorry driver to pull into a hard shoulder to escape a collision has been fined more than £800.
Colchester Magistrates’ Court heard the car driver then followed the lorry on the A120 at Colchester after it pulled back onto the road.
The motorist admitted the offence and was slapped with six points on their driving licence and fined more than £800.
The prosecution came as part of the Extra Eyes campaign from Essex Police whereby dash cam footage of road offences is submitted to the force by the public.
A series of cases were heard during a special traffic hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court last month, with the results published today.

In total 12 drivers were sentenced in total for a variety of traffic related offences on the day, with one disqualified and the 11 others handed points.
Extra Eyes manager Mick Green said: “These offences were reported to us because drivers with dash cams captured incidents of poor and dangerous driving and told us about them.
“[It gave us] an opportunity to investigate and identify drivers whose driving posed a risk to the safety of other road users.
“Let’s work together to share the roads safely and bring offenders to justice.”
