AN off-duty officer catches and arrests alleged thief while shopping in Colchester.
The officer was out shopping when he noticed a female avoid the exit with a full trolley.
He detained and arrested her while off-duty, and she has since been charged for the £800 theft.

A spokesman for the Essex Operational Support Group said: “Never off-duty.
“One of our officers was off duty shopping in Colchester when they saw a female leave the store with a full trolley through the entrance avoiding the exit.
“She was detained and arrested by the officer for an £800 theft.
“She was also wanted for a £500 theft in Southend.”
The group have also since confirmed the female arrested has now been charged for both thefts, and bailed before being set to attend court at a later date.
