A DEVELOPER has exclusively revealed talks are underway for a further two potential tenants at a multi-million pound retail park.
Churchmanor Estates has overseen the £65 million construction of Stane Retail Park in Stanway which has since seen an Aldi and B&Q open at the site.
The firm has now exclusively told the Gazette it is negotiating with a pair of interested parties looking to take on a tenancy in the remaining two unclaimed retail units.
However, it stated it was not in a position to give any secrets away just yet.
And once negotiations are complete and the businesses moved in, it will be time to kick back and relax, the developer said.
“We’re looking to let these out as soon as possible. We want it to be trading soon as we don’t want empty units and customers want to have a complete park,” said Emma Proctor King, of Churchmanor.
“Then once the tenants have moved in we can sit back and let people enjoy the retail park, there’s no futher development on that scheme yet.”
A landmark moment was seen on Wednesday as the impressive new Marks and Spencer shop opened its doors to huge crowds of excited customers.
One customer even got there at 6.30am, claiming to be an enthusiast of the brand’s iconic Percy Pig products.
Ms Proctor King was quick to offer reassurance to residents who have concerns about how the roads will cope with a surge in demand to the area bringing extra traffic.
“The car park was full on Wednesday but people were moving around and there wasn’t massive congestion,” she added. “I thought it might get a bit blocked.
“Because we’ve spent £2.6 million on improving the infrastructure thankfully there haven’t been any issues.
“Many people were also walking from Sainsbury’s and I think there are good connections to the area which will mitigate any problems.”
As Wednesday marked a major milestone in the park’s brief history, Ms Proctor King added it was a poignant moment for reflection.
She said: “It’s been some ten years in the making for us and it’s really nice to see it all coming together.”
