SPORTS clubs and organisations in North Essex have been paying tribute to Queen Elizabeth II, following her death.

They took to their websites and social media to express their sorrow at the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.

Colchester United said: 'Colchester United Football Club is deeply saddened by the passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

'Our thoughts and sincere condolences are with the Royal Family and we join the nation in mourning her loss. Rest In Peace, Your Majesty.'

 

The Colchester and District Sunday League wrote on social media:

Everyone at The Colchester & District Sunday League joins the rest of the nation in mourning the death of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

 

Braintree Town were also quick to pay tribute on social media to Her Majesty.

They said: 'Everyone at Braintree Town FC is deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth

'Our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family and the Nation at this difficult time. May she Rest in Peace.'

Brightlingsea Regent said: 'Everyone at Brightlingsea Regent Football Club is deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

'Our deepest condolences are with the Royal Family, and indeed everyone mourning her loss."

 

Witham Town tweeted: 'We awake this morning Following the sad news and as a mark of respect our flag has been lowered.'

Stanway Rovers said: 'Everyone at Stanway Rovers Football Club shares the nation’s mourning after the passing of our Monarch, Her Majesty The Queen.

'Our thoughts are with the Royal Family at this time. Rest In Peace, Your Majesty.'

 

And Wivenhoe Town said: 'We are deeply saddened by the passing of Her Majesty The Queen.

'We join the nation in mourning. Our thoughts and condolences go to the Royal Family.'

Essex Rebels basketball, based at the University of Essex in Wivenhoe, said: 

' Rest in Peace, Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.'

 

Colchester Rugby Club tweeted on their social media account: 'Colchester Rugby Club joins the whole nation in mourning, following the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II.'

 

Essex County Cricket Club wrote: 'The thoughts of everyone at Essex Cricket are with the Royal Family at this deeply saddening time. Rest in peace, Queen Elizabeth II.'

 

And Colchester and East Essex Cricket Club simply said: 'RIP Queen Elizabeth. A fine innings'.

Colchester Golf Club said: 'Rest in Peace Your Majesty. We thank you for a lifetime of service'
