A PENSIONER who was pulled from the water during a fishing holiday is suspected to have drowned.
Keen fisherman John Claydon, from Colchester, was enjoying fishing in Scotland before tragedy struck on August 1.
Essex Coroner’s Court heard a fellow fisherman spotted him in the water while walking along the riverbank and pulled him from its depths.
Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the 72-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene shortly before 1pm.
Area Coroner Michelle Brown delivered the provisional causes of death as drowning, hypertension, severe coronary artery calcification and a suspected heart attack.
Mr Claydon’s body is to be repatriated from Scotland before a documentary inquest is heard on October 7.
