THE Mayor of Colchester will mark King Charles III’s accession to the throne during a special event this weekend.
Colchester councillor Tim Young will read the Proclamation of the accession of King Charles III at a ceremony on the steps of Colchester Town Hall on Sunday.
The reading will follow the Principal Proclamation of the new king, which takes place at a meeting of the Accession Council, at St James’s Palace.
The Mayor said: “It will be an honour to read this historic Proclamation, which will be a unique moment in the history of our nation and borough.
“I would invite members of the public to join me outside the Town Hall for this momentous occasion.”
