Following work from Essex Police, Port of Dover Police and Kent Police, a 22-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested last night in Dover on suspicion of murder.
He remains in custody.
The force has now removed its cordon on the lane off Haven Road while its inquiries into the death of the man continue.
Although formal identification has not yet taken place, the victim has been revealed to be aged in his early twenties and from the Kurdish community.
It is understood the victim and the arrested man were known to each other.
Detective Chief Inspector Antony Alcock, from the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate, said he believes this is an isolated incident.
“This has been a fast-paced investigation so far, with an arrest being made in another county less than 24 hours after the initial call came in,” said the inspector.
“We are continuing to carry out multiple inquiries, including speaking to potential witnesses and reviewing hours of CCTV to piece together what has happened.
“We will continue our efforts and I encourage anyone who may have any further information to contact us and assist with our investigation.”
Inspector Alcock said the victim is believed to have had connections to several Kurdish communities in areas including Suffolk, whom he is eager to provide support to.
“We are working with our partner agencies to make sure we are speaking with anyone who can help us with this investigation and urge anyone who hasn’t spoken to us, to get in contact,” he added.
Anyone with any information about this incident should contact the police on 101 and quote incident 92 of September 12.
