A BURST water main in Coggeshall has flooded one of the main roads into the town, with water reportedly 12 inches deep across West Street.
It has meant an interruption to the water supply across the area, with residents also experiencing problems such as low water pressure and clouded tap water.
The water main burst on Wednesday afternoon, with a statement on the Anglian Water website saying engineers are hoping to fix the pipeline by 9pm this evening.
It read: "We’re really sorry but some customers in Coggeshall and the surrounding area may have very low water pressure or no water at all."
Houses outside on the outside of Coggeshall as far as Colne Road, Tey Road, and Marks Hall Road could well be affected by the incident according to the Anglian Water map.
The statement continued: "We’ve identified a burst water main in the area that we are working hard to get fixed, so that we can get your supply back to normal as soon as possible.
"Supplies should be restored by 9pm today but we will update this message if anything changes."
It added: "Again, we are really sorry we’ve inconvenienced you and thanks for your patience."
Any enquiries relating to the incident can be directed to Anglian Water, who are contactable on 03457-145-145.
