Preparations are under way for the traditional mayor-making ceremony in Harwich.
May 15 sees the new mayor and mayoress of the town appointed to their roles.
At the 1912 Centre, Cow Lane, at 11am, there will be an annual meeting of Harwich Town Council. Current mayor, David McLeod and mayoress Helen Gallagher, will hand over to their successors.
New mayor, David Rutson, is expected to sign the Declaration of Acceptance. The mayoress is expected to be his wife, Muriel.
Guests will walk to St Nicholas' Church where there will be a service including readings by children from Harwich and Dovercourt's primary schools.
The new mayor, councillors and guests will go to the town's historic Guildhall to throw kitchels from its balcony. Kitchels are sweet buns which are unique to Harwich and have been thrown by the new mayor each year for more than 400 years.
