Vandals caused more than £1,000 damage to a Victorian bandstand at a park in Dovercourt.
A section of the Cliff Park bandstand was knocked down by yobs, who also made a hole in the roof of the shelter.
They also daubed graffiti and caused damage to other walls at the park, off Main Road.
Nigel Brown, Tendring Council's communications manager, said the vandals caused extensive damage to the Victorian structure.
He said the bandstand is about 100 years old and has suffered from vandalism in the past. In the last major incident two stanchions were knocked down and repairs cost about £6,000.
