Thousands of postcards will be sent to the politician being held responsible for banning cars and taxis from Clacton's Pier Avenue.
Campaigners hope more than 4,000 postcards dropping on to the doormat of Essex County Council transport boss Norman Hume will persuade him to reverse the decision.
Only buses and delivery vehicles can use the central part of Pier Avenue between 10am and 4pm on weekdays after a £3.2 million town centre revamp.
Taxi drivers and district councillors launched the campaign yesterday.
Alan Kirkham, of Tendring Taxi Drivers' Association, said: "It is now more difficult for taxi users, especially the elderly and disabled, to visit the town."
