A STAPLE family event is returning to Colchester after three years.
The city’s Free Family Fun Festival is returning to Castle Park after a long Covid hiatus.
Heading into its seventh year, the festival is hugely popular in the community.
The event, organised by Colchester Churches, allows families to enjoy a day of fun without spending lots of cash.
Event manager Loraine Davies said: “The event is put on for free as a gift from Colchester Churches, we all get together and put on the day.
“There are gazebos, a bouncy castle, sports and games and a dog show.
"it is very popular, and we are excited to be back after Covid.
“We have also introduced more sports and a land train running around the park this year.
“It has really grown significantly since we started, last time we ran it about 8,000 or so people came across the day.
“We always have very positive feedback and the volunteers love doing it.
“We just see it as an opportunity to give something back to the community for free, and with many struggling financially, it is a nice time to do it.”
The festival on September 24, from 11am to 4pm in Castle Park, Colchester.
