SPEEDING motorists are the target for police in one area of Colchester.
The neighbourhood policing team for the Newtown and Christchurch areas are hoping residents will come along to monthly beat surgeries, as well as attending the neighbourhood action panel.
Top of the agenda at both gatherings is the issue of people speeding down residential roads. Officers are in the process of arranging a speed gun to be operated in problem roads to catch the offenders.
A high-visibility policing operation is planned to try to tackle the problem, with the possibility of £30 fines issued to motorists in the future.
The beat surgery will take place tomorrow at Christ Church, in Ireton Road, Colchester.
PCSO King will be there to offer advice and information about issues in the area.
The action panel will also meet at Christ Church on May 23.
