A 60-YEAR-OLD woman was hit in the face with a rock by a child as she drove her car in Dovercourt.
The woman suffered a bruised cheek and lost a tooth during the attack, which happened in Grange Road.
A youngster, who is thought to be aged about 13, ran towards the woman's car before throwing the rock.
PC Alex Southgate, of Harwich police, said: "She was slowing down as she reached the junction and felt a sharp pain down the side of her face.
"The youngster had thrown a rock through the open window which hit her in the face.
"This was a completely unprovoked attack on an innocent person, which could have been a lot worse.
"We will not tolerate this type of behaviour and will be doing everything we can to identify the suspect."
He made off in the direction of nearby houses after the attack.
He is described as white, tall, with brown hair and was wearing a white shirt and black trousers.
