COLCHESTER United's head coach role should be a 'really attractive job' for whoever takes over.
That's the view of U's sporting director Dmitri Halajko, as the odds today shortened on David Artell taking over at the JobServe Community Stadium.
Former Crewe Alexandra boss Artell is now joint odds-on favourite with bookmakers Bet Victor to succeed Wayne Brown as Colchester's head coach.
Artell's elevation in the bookmakers' odds comes as Wealdstone chairman Rory Fitzgerald appeared to rule out the possibility of Stuart Maynard taking over, at the U's.
Stones boss Maynard had been the bookies favourite to take charge at Colchester, over recent days.
However, Mr Fitzgerald today wrote on social media: "Relax everyone..... he ain't leaving".

Colchester are on the hunt for a new head coach, following Brown's departure earlier this month.
Brown was dismissed by the U's after a five-match winless run which left them just above the relegation zone.
Colchester lie a point above the bottom two, after one win in their opening ten league games.
Nevertheless, Halajko (pictured above), who is fronting the U's search for a new head coach, insists the position is an attractive one for whoever takes the job.
Halajko said: “We totally feel that it’s a really attractive job for somebody.
“They’ve got a great base and foundation to really push this club forward.
“We’ve got a training facility that’s the best, if not one of the best, in the league for sure.
“We’ve got a Category Two academy, which once again not many people in our league would have.
“We’ve got a big playing squad and a diverse playing squad which has got a bit of everything.
“It’s got youth in there, it’s got experience in there and it’s got a variety of different players.
“With the different styles, shapes and tactics you could use within that squad, you’ve got a real array of talent there to pick from.
“So it should be a really attractive proposition for someone.
“Wayne’s left it in a good place; he’s left a good squad and in a good place to move to that next level."
