A PLAY park built in a new Clacton street more than a year ago is still closed because of a mix-up over the equipment.
More than 50 families moved into Harpers Way with the promise of a play area for their children.
But the park has been fenced off since last spring.
Some residents complained the facility would attract bad behaviour and signed a petition to ask Tendring Council to keep it closed until it was made more suitable.
Finally workmen have been back to the park to change the equipment - replacing swings suitable for teens with equipment for toddlers.
Families are still frustrated because no opening date has been set.
Mother-of-four Alison Haynes-Hearst said her children, Leo, one-and-a-half, Demi Rose, five, Damien, eight, and Courtney, nine, have to walk past disappointed every day.
"We can't believe it is still not completed," she said.
"Every time we ring the council or Bloor Homes they pass the blame.
"It is a real shame because some of the kids will have outgrown it by the time it is open."
Developers Bloor Homes spent an estimated £40,000 on a play area as part of the estate off Jaywick Lane.
When the Gazette spoke to Bloor Homes in September is said it hoped the park would be open a month later.
Tendring Council said it was a matter for the company - Bloor Homes - but hoped it would be resolved soon.
