ONE of the country's most popular comedians is making a return to Colchester.

Jim Davidson possibly could lay claim to his own car parking space at the town's Charter Hall if you bear in mind how many times he has appeared there in recent years.

He loves the venue because of the atmosphere and the reception he always gets, and tomorrow night should be no exception, as he performs his new show - The Devil Rides Out.

As always, it's a show not for those who are easily offended but one which promises plenty of his trademark "blue" humour.

Jim found his way into show business in a pub in Woolwich, London, where the regular stand-up hadn't turned up.

Pushed into it by his friends, he ended up on stage telling gags. Ever since, he has appeared as often as possible in pubs and clubs across the city.

Highlights of his longstanding career have included five visits to the Falkland Islands, and engagements throughout the world entertaining British service personnel.

In 1999, he entertain the forces in Macedonia. In the same year, he founded and became leader of, The British Forces Foundation charity, which aims to promote the well-being and esprit de corps of service personnel.

l Jim Davidson is at Charter Hall, Colchester, tomorrow at 7.30pm. Tickets are £19.50 for adults and £14.50 for students. To book, call the box office on 01206 282020 or go online at char ter-hall.co.uk
