COLCHESTER’S historic castle will be opening for free for one night only, and here is how you can be a part of it.
As an extra special festive treat, Colchester Castle’s free Christmas open evening is returning for 2022.
Guests can soak up the festive atmosphere, while seeing more than 2,000 years of amazing history.
There will be the typical displays and history to enjoy, as well as the Wicked Spirits? Exhibition.
There will also be choirs, mince pies and mulled wine, bringing together the festive spirit, and even an opportunity to meet Father Christmas and his cheeky elves and receive a special gift.
A spokesman said: “There is no need to book, however, please note that the castle can get very busy during our open evening, so a queuing system may be in operation.
“For useful information, such as how to find us, what to expect when you arrive and what facilities we have, we recommend reading our access information at colchester.cimuseums.org.uk/castleaccess/.”
The event is from 3pm to 8pm on December 7, and is suitable for all ages, but children must be accompanied by an adult.
Entry to the Castle will be free, however, if you want to meet Father Christmas and receive a small gift there is a £5 per child charge.
