A man with spina bifida who is battling an excruciating leg condition is hoping a fundraiser will help him buy a new wheelchair.
Simon Coates, 31, spent ten weeks in hospital after his current chair gave him painful sores on his legs.
He moved from north London to the Mid Meadows Care Home in Elm Tree Avenue, Frinton, to recuperate, but still has one leg in plaster and the other in bandages three months on.
Now he is desperately hoping to raise £800 for a new chair, which will prevent the problem happening again.
Simon has £1,200 of the £2,000 he needs and hopes to raise the rest by pushing himself from the Triangle Shopping Centre, Frinton, to Clacton Pier.
The 7.5-mile sponsored event will take place on July 6 at 9.30am.
