AN auction in memory of schoolgirl Tia Goode has raised money for the hospitals that treated her.

The five-year-old died of a brain haemorrhage earlier this year and her family have continued their fund-raising campaign.

They organised an auction and raffle at Coppins Green Primary School, Clacton, where Tia was a pupil.

Designer handbags fetched £600, the raffle raised £1,000 and the school collected another £400 on the gate.

Mum Melissa Clapham said: "We're really pleased - it's fantastic."

She said the money would go to Acorn House, a charitable trust at Addenbrooke's Hospital, Cambridge, where Melissa and dad Darren Goode, stayed during Tia's treatment.

Funds will also go to Colchester General Hospital children's ward.

Another raffle is being planned and proceeds will buy a bench and tree in the school's memorial garden.

Tia, of Tulip Way, Clacton, won her battle against leukaemia but it left her weak and she suffered a fatal haemorrhage in April.
