POLICE officers are investigating an arson attack after a car was torched outside a property.
Essex Police is hunting for more information after the flames spread to overheard power lines and a hedgerow in Glebe Road, Tiptree, on Monday.
The force says its officers were called to the scene at about 9.15pm where they were joined by firefighters from Coggeshall.
Upon arrival, both emergency services found the car to be completely alight outside a property.
The fire crew managed to extinguish the blaze by 10pm and they remained at the site until shortly before 11pm to ensure it was safe.
The cause of the fire has been recorded as deliberate, with one eyewitness claiming a group may have sparked the incident.
Police officers have now stated they are treating the incident as arson and are investigating.
A spokesman said: “We’d ask anyone with information, or who has dashcam, doorbell or other footage of it which has not yet been passed to us, to contact us.
“Please quote incident 1200 of September 26.”
If you would like to support the investigation, you should call the police on 101.
