GOOD neighbours have received some well-earned recognition as an event marked four individuals for making their communities positive and welcoming.
The Colchester Borough Homes (CBH) AGM, which took place last Wednesday, saw prizes handed out for the neighbourhood achievement award, the older persons champion, the good neighbour award, and the younger persons’ champion.
Chair of CBH Dirk Paterson said handing out the awards was one of the highlights of the year for the housing association.
He said: “Presenting our Good Neighbour Awards is one of the most rewarding things we do.
“It reminds us all that communities are made up of people who care."

“Well done everyone who was nominated and all those who do great things in their communities without being noticed – we all build communities if we keep on being good neighbours.”
Age Well East won the neighbourhood achievement award, Cheryl Rothery was the older person’s champion, Charlie Williams won the good neighbour award, and joint winners of the younger persons’ champion were Ayaan Khan and Adam Salim Ali.
Winners in each category were presented with certificates, flowers, and vouchers worth up to £75 to thank them for their work in helping neighbourhoods become happier and more inclusive.
