Sandy Hood was one of only six players from the field of 54 to play to handicap on his way to winning the Bentley Cup at Five Lakes Golf Club.
A stiff breeze made shot-making a challenge, with just three players - Robert Taylor, Peter Millar and John Macaleavey - making twos on the par threes.
Chris Hamblion (three handicap) and Mike Martin (16) both scored 37 points but were beaten into third place on countback by James Foot (11), who in turn was beaten by Robert Taylor (17).
However, the clear winner was Hood (17), with 40 points, and he will now have his handicap reduced to 15.
