A STRING of assaults which took place in Colchester city centre has seen a man from Ipswich charged with two offences.
On Saturday, July 24, police were called to St Johns Street and Culver Street West after three men were assaulted, with the area remaining closed the following morning whilst police continued their investigations.
A man was taken to hospital for treatment with what were described as serious head injuries.
Police have now issued a public notice stating they have charged 25-year-old Jordan Pope, of Melville Road, Ipswich, with grievous bodily harm with intent, and assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
Two other men had previously been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and were questioned before being released under investigation.
