TALENTED young musicians will fill out an historic space with moving orchestral sounds during a special show - while keeping a legacy alive.
The Hervey Benham Young Soloists Memorial Concert will take place St Botolph’s Church, in Colchester, on October 22 from 7.30pm.
Taking to the stage will be celloist Benjamin Branson, violinist Sophie Branson, flutist Elizabeth Hammond, and clarinettist Jane Hammond.
Together they will perform compositions by a variety of composers, such as Max Bruch, Johann Bach, Franz Krommer, Jacques Offenbach and Frédéric Chopin.
The Hervey Benham Young Soloists Memorial Concert, which takes place every autumn, is designed to showcase the best young musicians in the region.
Hosted in collaboration with the St Botolph’s Orchestra, the event is part funded by the Hervey Benham Charitable Trust, which supports artistic projects.
Peter Donaldson, of the St Botolph’s Music Society, said: “Hervey Benham was an enormously enthusiastic musician and played bassoon in the St Botolph’s Orchestra.
“During his lifetime Hervey Benham encouraged talented young musicians to realise their potential and enjoy their music making.
“The annual Hervey Benham Young Soloists Concert at St Botolph’s is one of the ways in which trust continues to realise its founder’s aims.”
Tickets for the concert, costing £12 or £5 for school children, are available from the Red Lion bookshop, in the High Street.
