A REOPENED wedding venue owed £1.3millon to creditors at the time of its dramatic closure, new documents have revealed.
Prested Hall, in Feering, closed without any warning last month.
It came as a wedding fair listed on the company's website was suddenly postponed without reason.
Employees at the hospitality venue told the Gazette bosses had informed them they were no longer needed to work.
Visitors to the planned wedding fair at the hall were also left scratching their heads when they arrived at the site only to find the venue was closed.
Several worried parties aised concerns over whether or not their weddings and events would still go ahead at the 15th Century manor house.
After weeks of radio silence, despite repeated requests for answers from the Gazette, Prested Hall bosses have now confirmed the establishment has been taken over.
A spokesman for the establishment said: "We are pleased to announce that Prested Hall is under new management.
"We now have an experienced board with significant experience within the business and hospitality industries who are going to take Prested Hall forward.
"It gives us great pleasure to confirm that Prested Hall is open for business again. Please do not hesitate to contact us if we can be of any assistance."
Prior to the takeover, liquidators Parker Getty Limited were parachuted in to take control of the business and get the venue’s affairs in order.
In documents published on Companies House, Prested Hall appeared to have owed more than £1.3million to creditors.
A creditor is an individual, business or any other entity which is owed money because they have provided a service or good, or loaned money to another entity.
This includes more than £379,000 owed to HM Revenue & Customs and more than £158,000 to employees.
Consumers were also owed more than £61,000.
A number of small businesses were also listed as creditors.
Liquidators Parker Getty Limited were contacted for comment.
