A PENSIONER was left with lifechanging injuries after being struck by a moped after its rider was knocked off.
Peggy Lawrence was walking from Kingsway, Dovercourt, as part of her daily exercise routine on April 15, 2020.
She arrived in Marine Parade shortly before 3pm and stopped briefly to talk with a friend, Chelmsford Crown Court heard.
At that moment, Kerrin Repman was bumped by a BMW being driven behind him and had fallen off his vehicle near the Cliff Road junction, sustaining fatal injuries.

“The moped, which now had no rider, slid along the pavement at speed and it struck Ms Lawrence,” said prosecutor Amjad Malik.
“She ended up face down on the ground and she was unaware what had happened to her.”
The court heard the pensioner felt a “burning sensation” in both of her legs and numbness in her right arm.
She was taken to hospital where she received treatment for fractures to both ankles, her left lower leg, her left forearm and left knee.
There was also a wound sustained to her left upper arm.
Her injuries were described as lifechanging.
