A CELEBRATED sportsman opened a new sports league in Colchester during a celebratory evening.
The Colchester Mixed Darts Open League enjoyed a successful launch as a darts champion and the deputy mayor attended marking the celebration.
Darts champion Bobby George, Colchester's deputy mayor John Jowers and Andy Starr from Pubwatch were all in attendance to commemorate the new league’s opening at the Abbey Arms pub in Colchester.
Champagne and nibbles were shared between supporters and darts fanatics to acknowledge Black History Month and the inclusivity of the sport.
The new league hopes to celebrate diversity within the sport and challenge prejudice.
A spokesperson for the group said: “Darts is a fun, social sport, and we are looking to invite players from all cultures and ages to participate.”
League organisers are keen for more members to step forward and get involved. Anyone who wishes to join the league should contact colchesterdarts@hotmail.com
