A POLICING operation will target impatient commuters who continue to chance their lives at a railway station - where a woman died.
Officers from the British Transport Police (BTP), will be handing out fixed penalty notices to anyone caught crossing the railway tracks at The Hythe station, in Colchester, when the barrier is down.
Sergeant Anna Granger, of the BTP, said that despite the death of Kelly Mack, of Clacton, on the crossing in March, at least two people are spotted risking their lives on the tracks every hour.
Plain clothes and uniformed officers will be at the station over the next few weeks to catch offenders, and attempt to drive home the foolishness of their actions.
