MPs across Essex are being briefed by business leaders on why the A12 should be improved.
Following a survey of the 3,500 members of the Essex Federation of Small Businesses, a list of 10 recommendations to improve traffic flow has been sent to the inquiry into the A12.As well as opposing the introduction of business rates to help pay for improvements, the federation is calling for more slip roads, the banning of HGVs overtaking during the day and more signs and lighting be introduced.
The survey showed 96 per cent of respondents used the road, with more than half experiencing delays on most journeys, while 47 per cent want the road to be widened to three lanes throughout Essex.
The recommendations of the A12 Inquiry, chaired by former permanent secretary of the Department of Transport, Sir David Rowlands, will be published at the end of July.
