A CHRISTMAS fair with real reindeer, mulled wine and a hog roast is set to fill the centre of a village with Christmas cheer.
The Tiptree Christmas Fayre has a host of entertainment and fun for all planned.
There will be 100 stalls, live music, rides, amusements and a stage for entertainment acts.
School children, singers and groups will perform on the stage in Church Road from 5pm to 9pm.
Church Road will be closed from 4pm to 9pm on Thursday, November 17 for the event.
Kelvedon Rotary Club will be there as Father Christmas along with the live reindeer.
It costs about £14,000 to fund the fair, which includes public liability insurance which has doubled in cost this year.
Sandra Redgewell, the treasurer of the fair said: “We have an alcohol license so there will be wine, mulled wine, beer and more.
“There will be a hog roast from Millens the local butcher as well as chestnuts, candyfloss and more.
“There will be rides for the kids and stalls in St Luke’s community centre and outside.
“We are also doing a big Christmas draw, tickets are on sale in 12 shops in Church Road.
“Our aim is the have an event for the community to enjoy.”
The organisers have previously supported Tiptree-based charities and organisations with profits made from the fair.
Sandra said: “Were not a registered charity we are just five women putting it together.
“We raise money from local businesses and quiz nights to help to fund the fair.
“In view of the climate, we have done very well with fundraising.
“We have to hire lighting and public liability insurance has doubled in cost for this year.
“The plan is to donate any money left over to groups that need it in the area.
“Charities are also coming to the event to raise money in their own rights.
“In the past, we bought blood pressure machines for the local medical centre and books for schools.
“We hope to help support scouts, brownies and community groups and we try to spread the money throughout them rather than just donating one large amount.”
