THE results are in, after a poll was held asking Gazette readers ‘Do you think Colchester's Park and Ride is value for money?’
The online poll revealed that 85 per cent of Gazette readers who voted believed that the Park and Ride was not good value for money and should be priced cheaper.
10 per cent of voters agreed it was competitively priced and was good value for money, and the remaining five per cent voted that they were unsure.
The poll comes after Essex County Council revealed they were considering lowering the prices of the Park and Ride service, following a harsh decline in uses post-Covid.
One of the proposed changes was to lower adult ticket costs to £2.50 when traveling between noon and 3.30pm.
It was also considered to lower the price of weekend day visits to, making them in line with weekday prices, still offering commuters a cheaper service than car parks.
A consultation opened on Friday, October 28, giving residents and users of the service a chance to comment on the proposed changes.
The consultation period closes on Friday, December 9, Essex County Council will then consider the responses before acting.
