A MAN who was involved in a crash in Colchester while driving a car which had been taken without the owner’s permission will be sentenced next month.
Lee Skiffington, 39, of no fixed address, had denied burglary at a property in Kiln Road, Colchester on May 21.
He also denied aggravated vehicle taking by driving a Ford Focus, which had been taken without the owner’s permission, dangerously on Balkerne Hill and Rose Allen Road, Colchester, and owing to the driving being involved in an accident during which damage was caused to the Ford Focus, a Skoda Rapid, fences and street furniture.
He had also denied fraud by using a stolen debit card to obtain goods worth £42.
However, on what was to have been the first day of his trial at Ipswich Crown Court, Skiffington pleaded guilty to aggravated vehicle taking, fraud, driving without insurance and driving without a licence.
Richard Potts, prosecuting, said he wouldn’t be seeking a trial on the burglary charge and asked for it to be left on the court file.
Judge David Pugh adjourned the case until December 13 for a pre-sentence report.
