A HUGE popstar will return to Colchester next year for a homecoming show which will be even “bigger, better, and louder” than his previous performance.
Olly Murs, from Witham, will headline a massive gig at Castle Park, on August 27 next year, having also wowed crowds with a performance at the beauty spot last summer.
The show will be part of a huge tour on which Olly will embark to promote his seventh album Marry Me, described as being his poppiest and soppiest yet.
Prior to his forthcoming release, the hitmakers has enjoyed vast success, landing four number one singles and touch as many number albums.
During the show the musician, back with “a fresh mind, fresh enthusiasm and fresh confidence”, will perform a range of hits, such as Troublemaker and Dear Darlin’.
In recent years The Heart Skips A Beat singer has also become a familiar face on our television screens, thanks to his appearances on The Voice and the Starstruck.
Speaking about his return to Castle Park and his new record, Olly said: “I'm in the best place I've been in my life meaning that I can give my fans the best version of me.
“And this album is the best version of that.”
Ahead of his own performance, support act Scouting For Girls will take to the stage, warming up the large audience with tracks such as Elvis Aint’ Dead and Heartbeat.
Adam Fox, deputy leader of Colchester Council, said he is thrilled to be welcoming Olly back to the area for what is sure to be another memorable homecoming.
He said: “In the year Colchester celebrates city status, to have Olly playing Castle Park is a great endorsement of this wonderful venue.
