SCHOOL students have raised more than £1,000 to help improve the lives of disadvantaged children and young people around the country.
Pupils throughout the St Mary’s School for Girls network in Colchester, have fully embraced this year’s Children In Need campaign.
The lower school in Copford held a spotty non-uniform day and their annual Pudsey Bear Raffle, giving girls the chance to win one of 46 handmade Pudseys.
Student scholars at the senior school, in Lexden Road, meanwhile, organised a fundraising non-uniform day.
They were encouraged to be bold and to wear something which represents what they love.
Creative students also designed a Pudsey onesie as part of a competition and a took part in a Children In Need quiz.
Nicola Griffiths, principal of St Mary’s, said: “Pupils at St Mary's are keen to be involved in their communities and to give their support to charities.
“Children in Need is just one of many charity-led events that St Mary’s School participates in.
“Several thousands of pounds in donations are raised every year by St Mary’s families.
“Fundraising activities are student-led, by the girls who are members of the Charities Committee at the Lower School and by a range of student leaders at the Senior School, including the House Officials, Round Square Committee and Miss Comrie Scholars."
