REVELLERS on a night out in Clacton were shocked to see a deer caught in railings close to a town centre pub.
The muntjac deer managed to get itself caught in fencing surrounding Clacton's seafront memorial garden, opposite Tom Peppers pub, in Marine Parade West.
Ray Dowsett, manager of Tom Peppers, said door staff were the first to try and help the animal, which could be heard squealing from inside the pub.
Police and firefighters were called to the scene at about 10.10pm on Friday, but police officers freed the animal, which was then allowed to go off on its own, before fire crews arrived.
