FORMER Colchester United striker Clinton Morrison has praised his old club following their impressive 3-0 win over Doncaster Rovers.
The U's swept aside their mid-table opponents at the JobServe Community Stadium, to claim their first league victory in seven attempts.
Excellent strikes from Alex Newby, Samson Tovide and Luke Hannant sealed Colchester's win, lifting them out of the League Two relegation zone.
And Morrison, who spent two years at the Community Stadium between 2012 and 2014 playing under John Ward and Joe Dunne, says he was delighted to see his former club get back to winning ways.
Speaking as a pundit on the English Football League highlights show on ITV4 on Saturday night, former U's striker Morrison said: "It was a big win for them.
"I'm so happy for my old club - they've had a lot of changes of manager there.
"Now Bloomfield is in there and hopefully, he can get it right."
Morrison, who scored four times in 65 games for Colchester after joining them from Sheffield Wednesday in 2012, was impressed by the quality of his old club's goals, against Doncaster.
All three of the U's goals at the weekend were of the highest quality, with Morrison particularly praiseworthy of Tovide's fine strike, which was the teenager's first-ever professional goal.
"These were some cracking goals," added the former Crystal Palace and Republic of Ireland striker.
"I don't even though which is the best one!
"I would probably say the second one is the best one, Tovide the youngster scoring.
"It was a fantastic finish but they were all fantastic goals.
"You know what Colchester have been doing - they've been having finishing practice and you can see by their goals."
