A MOTHER has described the horrific moment her husband and son were involved in a crash and only suffered minor injuries.
Wtinesses say the incident, which took place on Friday, involved two cars on the Via Urbis Romanae.
A 54-year-old man and his 10-year-old son taken to Colchester Hospital to be treated for minor injuries after the Honda they were in was hit while sat at a set traffic lights.
Natasha Mathew, who is the mother of the boy and the wife of the man involved in the crash, said her son had been left traumatised by the incident.
Four ambulances and an ambulance officer were sent to the scene.
The 52-year-old, who is an eye surgeon at Ipswich Hospital, said her husband and son had been on their way to a storage warehouse in Ipswich Road before the crash took place.
She said: “This car didn’t stop and went straight into my husband and son.”
She added her young son was terrified after the incident and was taken to Colchester Hospital with his dad in the same ambulance.

“He was in total shock because we have never had anything happen like this in our lives," she said.
“For all the shock to see his father being taken away like that [in an ambulance] – all I know is that he was very brave.
“He started to weep because he thought his father was going to die – it was horrific for him.”
Filmmaker Jamie Weston, who witnessed the crash, said: “I heard a massive smash while walking the dog and I got closer I saw a load of police cars.
"A guy and his son jumped out looking very worried."
A spokesman for Essex Police said: "Officers were quickly on the scene of a collision in Northern Approach, Colchester, shortly after 3.50pm on Friday November 18.
"Thankfully, no serious injuries were reported as a result of the collision.
"Two men were arrested. One man, from Manningtree, was arrested on suspicion of failing to stop and dangerous driving.
"A second man, from Saxmundham, Suffolk, was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, assault of an emergency worker, theft and aggravated vehicle taking.
"Both men have been released on bail until December 19 as our investigation continues."
